For the last game of the season, the San Bernardino Valley College softball team decided to put on a show.

The Wolverines pounded two home runs and 13 hits as they defeated Barstow 17-5 in five innings on Sophomore Appreciation Night.

SBVC fell behind in the opening frame, as Barstow scored twice in the first. The Wolverines got a run back in the bottom half of the inning, then took control in the second, scoring three times, with Kristina Sandoval's two-out double scoring two runs to give SBVC the lead.

But the Wolverines broke it open in the third, as SBVC sent 12 players to the plate, scoring nine times. Jordan Knighton led off the inning with a double, and she scored on a single by Alani Lopez. Then, with one out and the bases loaded, Analisa Gonzalez lined the ball into the right field corner for a bases-clearing triple. Stephanie Varela singled Gonzalez home, and the Wolverines loaded the bases again. After a fielder's choice grounder by Knighton made it 10-3, Lopez launched a no-doubter over the left-field fence to make it 13-3 after three.

SBVC tacked on four more in the fourth, as this time Aliza Henriquez brought the boom stick, as she launched the ball over the fence down the left-field line to drive in the final two runs to close out the scoring.

Lopez ended the game going 2-for-3 with four runs batted in - all in the third inning - while Varela finished 3-for-3 at the plate with three runs scored and three RBI. Gonzalez and Sandoval each finished the game with three RBI as well. The SBVC offense also benefitted from Barstow pitching, as they drew eight walks in the game.

SBVC finishes the season 11-29 overall and 6-9 in Inland Empire Athletic Conference play.
