Defensive Line Coach
SBVC Football
2026-27 Season (First Season)
A Guyanese-American born in Long Island, NY, Gomez brings his vast experience to San Bernardino Valley College.
He started playing football in the tenth grade as a offensive and defensive lineman. He went on to play collegiately at Rochester CC and Saint Augustine’s University, as well as semi-professional football in North Carolina. In 2013, Gomez was invited to try out for the Edmonton Eskimos of the CFL.
Gomez graduated from Saint Augustine’s University with a bachelors in Human Performance and Wellness, and earned his masters in coaching education from Ohio University.
He has been coaching football for more than 20 years, starting at the age of 17. Over the years, Gomez has coached at the youth, high school, collegiate, and semi professional levels. His earliest years were spent coaching youth football as an offensive and defensive line coach, as well as a defensive coordinator for 12u and 14u organizations.
From 2011 to 2015, Gomez coached semi-professional football in North Carolina for the Franklin County Chargers and the North Carolina Bengals. I was the offensive line coach for the Bengals and the defensive coordinator for the Chargers. Over three seasons with the Chargers, I also coached the defensive line, linebackers and defensive backs.
In 2015, he returned to his alma mater, serving as the defensive line coach at Saint Augustine’s University. In 2016, he was named the defensive coordinator and head strength and conditioning coach, staying at the school until 2018, having a top three defense during my time there.
After leaving Saint Augustine's, he worked as an area scout for the National Scouting Report before starting his own business in 2020 training football players in South Carolina. He worked with players at all levels, from youth to professional, including several Division 1 athletes, as well as NFL and CFL players.
Gomez moved to California in 2023, becoming the football and strength coach at Saddleback Strength in Orange County. He also served as a football coach and performance coach at Delta Prep Academy and Marina High School, developing the offensive and defensive lines, as well as the linebackers, at Marina.
He later served as the head coach and defensive coordinator for the Delta 7v7 national team, consisting of some of the nation’s top high school football players for the class of 2026, before becoming the varsity and freshman linebacker coach for Mater Dei High School. I was also the defensive coordinator for the freshman team.
